
Senior System Administrator
The Molecular Sciences Computing Facility (MSCF) at Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory is looking for an experienced Senior System
Administrator to help lead the operations of the one of the world's largest
Linux Clusters (the fifth fastest computer in the world). This individual
should be self-motivated, enjoy daily challenges, and be able to be
immediately productive with all aspects of operations of a high performance
Linux cluster. This individual will be a Lead System Administrator in the
Molecular Science Computing Facility Operations group with responsibility
for maintaining a 1,900 processor IA64 Linux system utilizing both the
Quadrics interconnect and Lustre filesystem. The individual should love
ever-changing challenges. The applicant will need to be able to lead and
team with others without requiring detailed supervision or
guidance. Beyond technical leadership the position also requires
management skills including the ability to write proposals, develop
relationships with collaborators and write project plans and participate in
reviews.
Requirements for this position are: Seven or more years experience in UNIX
systems administration is required. Expert knowledge of Linux in an HPC
environment is required. Proficiency in Perl, and UNIX shells programming
required. Expert understanding of filesystem and network sections of the
Linux kernel as they pertain to high performance computing is required.
Experience in leading project teams, with strong demonstrated leadership
expertise. BS and 5+years experience, or MS and 3+ years experience, or PhD
in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related
technical discipline is preferred.
