
Sr. Database Architect

Job Purpose:
Take a lead role in driving the evolution of the domain model, OLTP, and data
warehouse architecture and implementation for the CreekPath Suite;
collaborating closely with the Platform, Systems Engineering, and Report
development teams.
Main Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Know the capabilities and architecture of the CreekPath SuiteT; understand
the virtualization layers in the storage and application supply chain at a
deep level.
- Understand the customers' historical reporting and analytic requirements at
a deep level.
- Develop domain models. Design mapping between OO domain models and the
persistence layer.
- Physical database architecture, design, implementation, and tuning.
- Contribute to detailed design and implementation of the domain model &
persistence layers.
- Develop detailed specifications for data warehouse schema and data
extraction, transform and load from the OLTP.
- Work closely with Crystal Reports developers to design and implement views
and stored procedures optimized for reporting.
- Design seamless migration of customer data on upgrades.
- Optimize and tune data model, stored procedures, embedded SQL.
- Specify, design, and implement load tests and performance diagnostic tools.
- Mentor application developers on design of high performance, highly scalable
data design, and persistence layer interactions.
- Train professional services on use of data warehouse schema and views to
develop custom reports.

- Proven track record in delivery and deployment of highly available, large
scale commercial enterprise applications across diverse customer base.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Pragmatic, analytical, good at prioritization and tradeoffs.
- Innovative and agile; enthusiastic leader and team player.
- Hands-on senior level design and implementation of persistence
architectures, object-relational mapping, and relational database design.
- Expert OO and data modeling skills.
- Hands-on senior level database design, administration, and query
optimization skills.
- Hands-on senior level database design, tuning, and administration experience
with Oracle 9i.
- Knowledge of various database driver/access mechanisms including JDBC, OLEDB
and .NET database providers.
- Deep knowledge of SQL and PL-SQL.
- Hands-on senior level PL-SQL, EJB development skills, JDBC, JXTA, with BEA
WebLogic 6.1, 8.1 and Oracle 9i.
Qualifications Required/Desired: (Education desired and experience required)
- 7+ years experience in the analysis, design, development, deployment and
tuning of large scale distributed, transactional commercial applications.
- M.S. Computer Science or equivalent.
- Oracle, and J2EE or .Net certification preferred.
