
Postdoctoral Researchers: Astronomy / Grid Computing

Applications are invited for two Postdoctoral Research Positions in the
emerging field of computational astronomy. The objective of this new
funding is to join astronomical data mining with high-performance Grid
computing. The successful candidate will work closely with Roy Williams and
George Djorgovski. The candidate will have skills in several of the
following areas: astronomical databases, virtual observatory, data mining,
web services, high-performance computing, data-intensive computing, Grid
computing, visualization, XML, Python, SOAP, OGSI. Educational requirements
include a Ph.D. in any of: astronomy, statistics, data mining, computer
science, or a closely
related discipline. Experience with Virtual Observatory protocols is
desirable. The position is for a period of 1 year with the possibility of
renewal up to 3 years. More details at
