As an engineering member of the Materials Informatics product development team, this individual will carry out database development work for a state- of-the-art client/server database application suite, using Oracle 8.x/9i and PL/SQL. In this role, s/he will also be involved in requirements gathering, design and technical implementation for future products and enhancements in support of our Materials Informatics initiative. The qualified candidate will have a A.S., B.S., or equivalent in EE, CS, or IS, with a background in data base development. Prior experience of software development in a commercial environment (3+ years) and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex software development projects is a must. Besides solid technical skills, the position requires enthusiasm, creativity, and the demonstrated ability to develop high-quality software as part of an outstanding team of scientists, developers and software architects. Excellent database development skills using Oracle technology and PL/SQL are essential, while experience with replication or XML technologies would be a strong advantage. Familiarity with database security and authentication models, data modeling expertise, and familiarity with product development life cycle and quality testing assurance methodologies is required. Experience with Perl and SQL*NET/NET, as well as experience with middleware technologies, is desirable. Basic knowledge of C++, VB, COM is advantageous.
