- Starting with empty racks and a set of CDs, a team of cluster computing
experts from the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) assembled a
supercomputer and ran real scientific applications in one hour and 52
minutes at SC2003.

RAPTOR NETWORKS ANNOUNCES TRUE WIRE-SPEED IMPROVEMENTS
- Raptor Networks Technology, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pacific
InterMedia, Inc. announced significant improvement in True Wire-Speed
operation within connected clusters at the Supercomputing Conference in
Phoenix.

AMD ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF SERVER CLUSTER TO DEVELOPER CENTER
- AMD announced availability of an AMD Opteron processor Model 244-based
cluster at its Sunnyvale, Calif. AMD Developer Center. The cluster was
created to provide developers with a powerful, scalable HPC application
test and development platform.

INTEL UNVEILS NEXT GENERATION CHIP
- Intel Corp., the world's largest maker of semiconductors, said it has
built test chips using next-generation 65 nanometer technology which
would allow the company to put 10 million transistors on the top of a
ball point pen.

ETNUS TOTALVIEW RELEASE SUPPORTS NEW COMPILERS, PLATFORMS
- Etnus announced availability of Etnus TotalView version 6.3.1. This new
release includes support for Linux on AMD's Opteron computing systems,
HP-UX on Intel Itanium-based systems, and the Absoft Fortran 95
version 8.2 compiler.

4GHZ P4 INTEL PRESCOTT CHIP SET FOR Q4 '04 RELEASE
- During an analysts conference yesterday, Intel's president Paul
Otellini promised to unveil a 4GHz Pentium 4 by the end of 2004. The
4GHz will be Intel's 90nm Prescott chip.

AIR FRANCE PICKS SUN FOR WORLDWIDE EMPLOYEE PORTAL SERVICES
- Sun Microsystems Inc. announced that Air France -- a major leading
airline in Europe, with annual revenues of 12.687 billion Euros
($14.912 billion USD) -- chose Sun to meet its worldwide, business-
critical communication and collaboration needs.

SGI SUPPORTS MERCK RESEARCH EFFORTS
- The Department of Bioinformatics at Merck & Co., Inc. has turned to SGI
to support ongoing informatics efforts at its Merck Research
