- Australia's state government provided $3.1 million in funding to
Western Australia's Interactive Virtual Environment Centre (IVEC) in
order to promote and improve the center's supercomputing use.

UCSD/SDSC USE HPC TO MODEL MUTATIONS FOR CANCER RESEARCH
- A team of biomedical researchers based at SDSU, the Moores UCSD Cancer
Center, and UCSD has made an important discovery in modeling the
functions of enzymes in the human body based on their molecular
structures -- a discovery with implications for drug design and cancer
treatment.

SANDIA SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR HELPS SAVE LIVES
- A radar, originally developed by the National Nuclear Security
Administration's Sandia National Laboratories for military surveillance
and reconnaissance applications, is helping a volunteer search and
rescue group save lives.

The Department of Energy and Sun Microsystems Inc. announced the
development of a high performance computer cluster at the Idaho
National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) in Idaho
Falls, Idaho.

SCALI RELEASES NEW PRODUCTS FOR MULTI-PLATFORM CLUSTERS
- Scali, a leader in high performance clustering solutions, announced the
4.3 release of their cluster management (Scali Manage) and message
passing interface (Scali MPI Connect) software.

FISERV IMAGESOFT WILL RESELL POLYSERVE CLUSTERING SOFTWARE
- The Fiserv Imagesoft unit of Fiserv, Inc. will resell and support
clustering software from PolyServe, Inc. under an OEM agreement
announced by PolyServe.

ROCKETCALC UNVEILS AMD OPTERON-BASED COMPACT CLUSTERS
- Rocketcalc announced the Saturn series personal cluster computer with
AMD Opteron processors.

- Linux Networx announced that two Department of Defense (DoD) high
performance computing centers have each received a 256-processor
Evolocity Linux Networx cluster computing system.

OSC TO ADVANCE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WITH CRAY SUPERCOMPUTING
- The Ohio Supercomputer Center's Springfield, Ohio, facility received
two new high-performance computing systems this summer, including the

IBM WINS EIGHT OVERALL CATEGORIES IN VARBusiness AWARDS
- Recognized by its own solution providers for outstanding satisfaction
levels, IBM walked away with eight overall category wins during the
VARBusiness Annual Report (ARC) Awards ceremony at the XChange '04
Conference.
