ADVANCED ANALYTIC-SEARCH TOOLS FOR STRATEGIC STRIKE
- Commentary from the High-End Crusader
Working from a Pentagon report, the High-End Crusader considers
advanced analytic-search tools to acquire difficult targets in
asymmetric warfare. The data come from intrusive, lower-tier wireless
sensor networks. Strategic data analysis is equated with certain
challenging sparse-graph problems that have little chance of being
solved on distributed-memory machines. Straw algorithms and computing
requirements are discussed.

Quote of the Week:
"Five of the 10 fastest growing occupations in the next decade
will be computer related, but women make up less than a third of
the IT workforce and an even smaller percentage of the academic
pipeline. This underrepresentation represents a loss of talent
and creativity that we will need shaping the future role of
technology in society."
