SC SIM MAY REVEAL THE DETAILED MECHANICS OF EXPLODING STARS
- University scientists are preparing to run the most advanced
supercomputer simulation of an exploding star ever attempted.
Researchers expect the simulation to reveal the mechanics of exploding
stars, called supernovae, in unprecedented detail.

SDSC TECH HELPS BERKELEY PROF TO PREDICT CHANGES ON JUPITER
- Dr. Philip S. Marcus, professor of mechanical engineering at the
University of California, Berkeley, is using SDSC's Blue Horizon to
show that many of Jupiter's large storm vortices, which appear in the
telescope as spots, may soon vanish.

impractical for the data center.

- MSC.Software Corp. announced that ABB has adopted the MasterKey license

- Global supercomputer leader Cray Inc. announced that the Pittsburgh
Supercomputing Center (PSC) has placed an advance order for the

supercomputer. GMRI has also ordered a Cray X1 Supercomputer.
