- MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database,
launched MySQL Cluster, a new open source database clustering
technology for applications requiring continuous availability.

TOPSPIN, NISSHO ANNOUNCE DISTRIBUTION PARTNERSHIP FOR JAPAN
- Topspin Communications, a leader in switched computing, and Tokyo-
based Nissho Electronics Corporation, announced that Nissho will
distribute Topspin's InfiniBand-based server switch products in Japan.

NASA DEPLOYS FORCE10 E-SERIES
- Force10 Networks announced that the National Aeronautics Space
Administration (NASA) has deployed the E300 in its Goddard Space Flight
Center, home to the largest organization of combined Earth and space
scientists and engineers in the U.S.

EMIC NETWORKS SECURES $7.5M IN FUNDING
- Emic's Application Cluster (EAC) products are designed to provide best
price/performance cluster platform for horizontal scaling of Open

PROCESSORS DRIVE LOWER COST, INTEL ITANIUM 2-BASED SYSTEMS
- Intel Corporation announced two Intel Itanium 2 processors. Servers
based on the new processors are approximately 28 percent lower in price
and up to 25 percent higher performing than previous dual processor
Itanium 2-based servers.

IBM TO RESELL STMICROELECTRONICS PGI COMPILERS
- The Portland Group Compiler Technology team of STMicroelectronics
announced an agreement under which IBM will resell PGIŅ Fortran, C and
C++ compilers and development tools for a new line of IBM Departmental
Supercomputing Solutions.

N.TECH INVESTS IN MSC.SOFTWARE MASTERKEY LICENSING SYSTEM
- MSC.Software Corp. announced that N.Technology, an Italian developer of
race cars and part of FIAT AUTO, is expanding its use of MSC.Software
products under the MSC.MasterKey license system.

SILICON GRAPHICS SELLS ALIAS SOFTWARE BUSINESS
- Silicon Graphics announced it has reached a definitive agreement for
the sale of its Alias graphics software business to Accel-KKR, a
technology-focused private equity investment firm.
