HP REDUCES DATA COSTS, EXPANDS TIERED STORAGE PORTFOLIO
HP introduced new disk, tape, optical storage technologies and enhanced
information management software that expand their portfolio of tiered
storage solutions.
CONSTANT DATA RELEASES CONSTANT REPLICATOR 4.0
Constant Data, a provider of data availability storage software, released
version 4.0 of Constant Replicator, a real-time data availability storage
software solution for UNIX, Linux and Windows server platforms with True
Cross-Platform technology.
InteleNet CREATES COMPUTING SERVICE W/EqualLogic iSCSI STORAGE
InteleNet Communications will use EqualLogic's SAN solution as the core
of one of its foundation services. EqualLogic's PS Series arrays are
supporting a number of hosted services, allowing InteleNet to react to customer
requirements by offering computing resources on demand.
INTRANSA ROLLS OUT IP7000 SERIES
Intransa announced the launch of the Intransa IP7000 series IP storage
area network (SAN) solutions to support the demands of the large scale
enterprise. The Intransa IP7500 offers enterprises a complementary
alternative to Fibre Channel for their on-line and near-line secondary
storage needs.
IOMEGA REVAMPS NAS 400 SERIES FOR IMPROVED NETWORK PERFORMANCE
Building on Iomega's success in NAS servers for small- and medium-sized
businesses, the NAS 400r series is built on Microsoft Windows Storage
Server 2003, uses a high-speed Serial ATA storage subsystem and features improved
performance, reliability and software capabilities across the line.
Windows Storage Server 2003 is standard on all models.
ALACRITUS, NETWORK APPLIANCE DELIVER NEW VIRTUAL TAPE LIBRARY
Alacritus Software has teamed with Network Appliance to provide an
advanced virtual tape library solution. The combined solution can be used
as a high- performance and highly reliable virtual library system for backing
up both NetApp storage as well as UNIX and Windows servers.
SANRAD INTROS BROAD RANGE OF iSCSI-BASED STORAGE SOLUTIONS
Targeted to deliver a total solution for companies seeking to implement
cost-efficient, easy-to-manage and flexible storage networks, the
solutions feature SANRAD's proven V-Switch in conjunction with next-generation
performance, high availability storage ranging from 500GB to 5.4
petabytes.
TEXAS MEMORY UNVEILS FIRST RAID-PROTECTED SOLID STATE DISK
Texas Memory Systems announced availability of a new entry-level solid
state disk, the RamSan-120 -- the fastest 1U solid state disk on the
market and the first solid state disk ever to implement RAID-protected dual
inline memory modules for the highest levels of reliability.
VOLTAIRE, PARTNERS DELIVER SCALABLE DATABASE PLATFORM SOLUTION
Voltaire announced the availability of its joint scalable database
platform solution with Terrascale, Western Digital and Western Scientific
at Oracle Open World. The solution now provides performance and scalability
for Oracle Database 10g.

HITACHI IT, FalconStor REACH COOPERATION UNDERSTANDING
FalconStor Software announced that they have reached an initial
understanding for technology cooperation with Hitachi Information
Technology. Both companies signed a letter of intent to collaborate on
future business opportunities.
BUS-TECH'S MAINFRAME APPLIANCE FOR STORAGE AVAILABLE FROM EMC
Bus-Tech's Mainframe Appliance for Storage (MAS) tape controller is now
available through the EMC Select Program, which enables customers to
purchase complete mainframe tape-on-disk solutions directly from EMC.
DataCore, PROMISE TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
As a result of the deal, Promise will include a copy of DataCore's disk
server software, SANmelody Lite, with every Promise-branded storage
adapter sold. When existing Ethernet infrastructure is employed, there is no
additional hardware or software required to deploy a fully functional
multi-user storage network.
EMC TO RESELL CIENA STORAGE EXTENSION PLATFORMS
EMC will offer the CN 2000 and ONLINE Metro to customers developing
solutions that require the extension of storage area networks, remote disk
mirroring, remote back-up or the extension of other applications over
distances from tens to thousands of miles to meet business continuance and
disaster recovery goals.
EMC PROVEN SOLUTION SPEEDS ORACLE DATABASE 10g MIGRATIONS
EMC and Oracle announced a new joint services offering to help customers
quickly and cost-effectively upgrade to new Oracle Database 10g
environments. The companies unveiled the new EMC Oracle Database 10g
Accelerator solution at Oracle OpenWorld.
HITACHI DATA SYSTEMS EXPANDS REACH INTO GLOBAL SMB MARKET
Hitachi Data Systems announced products that will enable its rapid
expansion into the global SMB markets. These products, include
channel-optimized starter solutions for SAN-based consolidation and data
backup built on the new Hitachi Thunder 9520V Workgroup Modular Storage
system.
RED HAT, NETWORK APPLIANCE BRING iSCSI SOLUTIONS FOR LINUX
Red Hat and Network Appliance announced an expanded partnership in order
to increase efforts related to the development and deployment of iSCSI
within production Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.

According to IDC Worldwide Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker,
worldwide external disk storage systems factory revenues grew 3.5 percent
year over year to $3.4 billion in the third quarter of 2004 (3Q04),
marking the sixth consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue growth.
