Procom Plays Bigger Role In Enterprise Internet Reporting

As Web surfing at work increases dramatically, more and more companies are taking a closer look at their Internet reporting needs, with an emphasis on compliance with new regulations such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley. Some organizations have established policies requiring historical Web-use data for as many as three years. Detailed Web-use data files can quickly become unwieldy, with most Web reporting systems tied to Web-content filtering software products, leaving many firms unable to store much history and with difficulties getting useful reports in a timely manner.

8e6 Technologies provides a solution to this problem with the 8e6 Enterprise Reporter 3.0 (ER 3.0) dedicated reporting appliance and by offering clients Procom's high-volume NetFORCE NAS filers as an option with the ER 3.0. Currently available with the ER 3.0 reporting appliance is a NetFORCE entrylevel model that stores up to 2TB of data and a midrange model that can scale to 6TB of raw storage capacity. Both integrate easily with the ER 3.0 and deliver data management features typically found only in enterprise-class NAS filers. 8e6 also plans to offer the recently introduced NetFORCE 700L, an entry-level model that provides up to 1.6TB of storage capacity at an attractive price point.

"Affordability was a big reason we chose NetFORCE," said Eric Lundbohm, 8e6 Technologies' vice president of marketing. "Our customers already have many competing projects for their budgets, so we needed something very cost effective for our external NAS storage option. With its excellent price/performance value proposition, NetFORCE fills those needs."

In addition, NetFORCE NAS filers add value because of Procom's industryproven operating system, which gives customers such advanced features as a journalized file system to ensure data integrity, checkpoints for rapid recovery of damaged or deleted files, cross-platform heterogeneous file sharing, NDMP-compliant backup, and SNMP monitoring.

"8e6 takes responsibility for delivery of a complete system to our customers, not just a software package," Lundbohm added. "Our engineers work closely with each client to determine the exact storage needed to implement their historical data policy, and we deliver the properly-sized Procom NAS solution."

Said Carlos Ortiz, Procom's director of product marketing, "The alliance with 8e6 Technologies is another example of Procom's strategy of delivering network storage solutions through partners. Internet reporting is one of many vertical market applications we're targeting with our wide portfolio of fast file-serving appliances."
