Top Of The News - Storage:EMC Recognized As North Carolina's Large Company Of The YearEMC Corp announced the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technologies Association (NCEITA) has awarded EMC its 2004 Large Company of the Year award. The NCEITA 21 Awards, now in their 10th year, are the oldest and most prestigious IT awards in North Carolina. These awards showcase business accomplishments in innovation and leadership in information technology. EMC was recognized for its advancements in information management technology, commitment to innovation and continued growth and investment in North Carolina. "EMC is honored to be recognized by NCEITA and by our industry peers as a technology leader in North Carolina," said Joe Tucci, EMC president and CEO. "Our operations in North Carolina play a vital role in enabling us to deliver the world's most comprehensive lineup of information storage systems, software and services to customers around the world. The systems and software that EMC develops and manufactures in North Carolina are among its fastest growing product lines and they are highly strategic to EMC's future growth." In addition to receiving the 2004 Large Company of the Year award, EMC also was a finalist in three other NCEITA 21 award categories, including Corporate Education, Electronics Company of the Year and Public Company of the Year. In 2003, NCEITA named EMC Public Company of the Year, recognizing it for helping to significantly advance North Carolina's leadership in technology. That year, EMC's Apex manufacturing plant also was awarded the Large Business of the Year award by the Apex, N.C., Chamber of Commerce. "This year marks our tenth anniversary honoring North Carolina's best and brightest technology companies and thought leaders," said Joan Myers, president of NCEITA. "Because of the broad and significant accomplishments of our 2004 winners, North Carolina continues to be positioned as a national showcase for technology excellence and innovation. EMC continues to demonstrate that it is a leader and role model of technology and performance in North Carolina." EMC is one of North Carolina's largest high-tech employers.
