IMlogic, KVS Help Companies Comply With New Guidelines

Thousands of public companies could face millions of dollars in fines for failing to meet today's deadline to comply with new federal financial disclosure measures in accordance with new rules under the Sarbanes-Oxley act. However, IMlogic and KVS, a business unit of VERITAS Software Corp, are teaming to help these companies avoid penalties by enabling them to archive and manage e-mail and instant messages (IM) regarding financial information.

As of today, public companies with more than $75 million market capitalizations must provide detailed reports on all communications -- including electronic communications -- regarding financial reports. Companies with smaller market capitalizations must comply by July 15. These new measures compel companies to implement tools that archive and search all instant messages and e-mails related to their periodic financial disclosures. Without such tools and technologies in place, it is impossible for a company to maintain internal controls over its financial reporting.
