JMR ELECTRONICS SELECTS HITACHI DESKSTAR FOR ITS PRODUCT LINE

JMR Electronics announced that it will integrate 400GB Hitachi Deskstar 7K400 hard drives into its Fortra family of Serial ATA (SATA) storage systems.

The Fortra family of SATA storage systems are enterprise-class RAID arrays that can hold up to 6 TB of highly available storage in a 3U package for customers developing ILM strategies and utilizing disk based storage for Back-up and Disaster Recovery solutions. The Fortra SATA products are designed to meet the needs of customers that require reliability, speed and capacity at prices lower than a half cent per MB.

"JMR is pleased to deepen its relationship with Hitachi, a recognized leader in hard disk drive technology. Their breadth of product allows us to easily provide the essential storage solutions the channel demands," said Tom Fabrizio, JMR vice president of sales and marketing. "With JMR ensuring a completely integrated and tested solution that eliminates any compatibility issues for connecting storage, we are providing our channel partners with a reliable bundled solution that allows them to focus on their primary business. In addition, JMR and Hitachi will be a source of continued compatibility testing for these products, therefore, providing an additional benefit to our mutual partners."

"Hitachi's Deskstar 7K400 is the industry's highest capacity 3.5-inch SATA hard drive, which makes it ideally-suited for use in JMR's high-capacity RAID storage solution," said Ian Vogelesang, vice president of Strategy & Planning at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. "Hitachi and JMR have collaborated extensively to ensure that the new Deskstar-based Fortra systems will meet the needs of channel customers, in terms of quality, performance and ease of integration. "

The Deskstar 7K400 is ideally suited for nearline storage and other low I/O applications. The drive provides superior capacity and award-winning performance at a comparable cost to that of tape or optical solutions. Several Deskstar 7K400 design attributes combine to enhance system performance. Among these features is the Rotational Vibration Safeguard technology (RVS). The RVS technology is used to ensure drive performance in high rotational vibration environments, where there are multiple drives in a single enclosure.
