SEAGATE SAS LEADERSHIP CONTINUES; DRIVES BEGIN SHIPPING TO OEMs

Seagate Technology announced its Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives are being sampled by OEMs for qualification. This news comes on the heels of Seagate's recent successful completion of SAS interoperability testing at the third SCSI Trade Association SAS Plugfest at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory. Seagate Savvio 10K.1 and Cheetah 15K.4 drives were used at the Plugfest, which helped reinforce confidence in Seagate's SAS technology and underpin the industry's readiness to deliver SAS solutions to the market.

As the enterprise technology leader and founding member of the SAS Working Group, Seagate SAS solutions were the most often deployed during the Plugfest, the largest yet with 21 companies participating to test their products. The demonstration confirmed successful interoperability of both its Cheetah 15K.4 and Savvio 10K.1 drives with a large variety of SAS configurations and topologies. OEMs and system builders alike will adopt Seagate's new SAS solutions for use in their enterprise-class servers, storage arrays and cutting-edge workstations.
