DMTF EXHIBITS IN SNIA ALLIANCE, FORUM PAVILION AT SNW 2004

The Distributed Management Task Force Inc (DMTF) participated in the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA's) Alliance and Forum Pavilion at Storage Networking World (SNW) 2004. The DMTF's Common Information Model (CIM) and Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) standards provide the foundation architecture for the SNIA's Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMIS), delivering the critical infrastructure necessary to enable interoperable storage management.

"The SNIA's Alliance and Forum Pavilion at SNW is an excellent opportunity for the DMTF to show the many ways we support interoperability in storage management," said Winston Bumpus, president of DMTF. "From SMI-S and SMI-Lab to the SNIA Conformance Testing Program (SNIA-CTP), examples of the importance of WBEM and CIM, and their high level of extensibility, are widespread in the storage industry. We look forward to speaking with SNW attendees about how our standards are helping the storage industry reduce the cost of management."

"Since 1999, the DMTF has supplied the foundation technology for SMI-S -- the specification that has recently been ratified as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) standard," according to Ray Dunn, chair of the SNIA Storage Management Forum. "The SNIA has a strong working relationship with the DMTF and our close collaboration has created momentum to drive this important standard towards this significant milestone."
