EqualLogic DONATES PeerStorage ARRAY 100E TO HUMAN SERVICES ORG

EqualLogic Inc, a provider of iSCSI-based, self-managing networked storage solutions, announced the donation of a PeerStorage Array 100E to Bay Cove Human Services to serve as the foundation of the agency's storage area network (SAN). EqualLogic's PeerStorage array provides an automated, self-managing environment for Bay Cove that supports all critical applications and its disaster recovery solution.

Based in Boston, Bay Cove Human Services is a private, not-for-profit corporation that provides highly specialized residential, day, outpatient and educational services to children and adults with a broad array of disabilities such as mental illness, drug and alcohol dependency and developmental disabilities. The agency employs more than 750 active employees and provides treatment and support to over 9,000 individuals and their families per year at over 80 program sites and homes.

EqualLogic's PeerStorage array supports Bay Cove's vast number of internal systems, from accounting and fundraiser databases to billing and Web site applications. Bay Cove's traditional network attached storage (NAS) environment limited its ability to grow and manage large stores of data. EqualLogic's PeerStorage technology replaced Bay Cove's NAS environment because of its ability to intelligently store data in an automated central pool of storage. With PeerStorage technology in place, Bay Cove's critical data is consolidated and easily accessed and protected.

The EqualLogic donation was facilitated by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of New England (EFNE), a non-profit organization that encourages entrepreneurs and their emerging high-tech companies to give something back to their community. After reviewing proposals from many charities across the country, EqualLogic chose Bay Cove Human Services for its corporate donation because of the organization's sophisticated use of information technology and the clear benefit that the PeerStorage array would immediately provide to Bay Cove's evolving data center.
