NeuStream EXPANDS STORAGE SERVICES WITH StorageBoss REPLICATOR

NeuStream Inc introduced the StorageBoss Shared Management Suite V1.4, featuring a new and improved graphical user interface (GUI), and real-time data replication and high availability clustering software. This latest product version gives small and medium enterprise (SME) businesses the power to:

• Gain easy access to all network storage related tasks such as snapshots, back up, quotas, replication, etc.
• Mirror data off-site to protect from major service outages or disasters.
• Mirror data between multiple locations to reliably share or distribute content.
• Consolidate data from many remote offices over an existing network infrastructure.

Expanding Storage Services

With the StorageBoss Shared Storage Management Suite V1.4, NeuStream adds Constant Data's real-time, semi-synchronous data replication software to their current data storage management solution. NeuStream and Constant Data announced an OEM partnership earlier this year.

Constant Replicator software is completely integrated into NeuStream's StorageBoss Appliance to provide real-time, semi-synchronous data replication over any distance. The combined solution provides NeuStream customers with unattended mirroring and automatic failover, of any amount of storage, over existing IP networks -- for a complete business continuity solution."

The StorageBoss appliance, which scales to 3TB internally, can now provide continuous real-time file system synchronization over existing IP networks, enabling business continuity. Key highlights include: Guaranteed write ordering fidelity and transactional integrity Supports replication of databases, large data sets and rich media content. Guaranteed data delivery due to highly resilient replication technology Dynamic reconfiguration allows remote replicas to be added with no system downtime.

Adaptive compression and byte-level replication for maximum performance. Firewall friendly runs on any specified TCP/IP port over existing networks.

Enhancing business fluidity - Designed to simplify the storage needs of SME users, the StorageBoss shared storage management suite was introduced by NeuStream at Novell's BrainShare March 2004. It runs on Novell's SuSE Linux and uses industry standard hot swappable Serial ATA disk drives. The StorageBoss is capable of providing up to 3TB of internal shared storage for both file (CIFS, NFS, AFP) and block (iSCSI) based needs, and has the ability to expand further using any industry standard SCSI or Fibre Channel storage arrays.

Also included in the standard product is the ability to consolidate disparate backup tape devices by directly attaching them to the StorageBoss via Ultra 320 SCSI, reducing impact on the network and the amount of tapes needed to back up business data for disaster recovery or regulatory compliance.

The StorageBoss standard configuration of dual Intel Xeon processors, 2 GigaByte RAM, dual 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, and Ultra SCSI 320 external port makes the StorageBoss flexible enough for the most demanding SMB or SME environment. Additional SCSI and/or Fibre Channel HBAs can be installed in the 4 open PCI slots for increased capacity and performance.
