STORServer SHIPPING BACKUP APPLIANCE FOR MID-SIZE COMPANIES

STORServer -- manufacturer of the all-in-one enterprise Backup Appliance and suite of Business Continuity Appliances -- is now shipping its space-saving S20000 Backup Appliance utilizing the Spectra Logic T120 library, the company announced.

The S20000 is remarkably compact, yet can hold 120 LTO or SAIT tape cartridges and up to six tape drives in only 19U of rack space, said John Pearring, president of STORServer. The S20000 offers 60TB of library storage capacity using SAIT and 24TB using LTO. The system can also contain 1TB of disk-to-disk backup cache in the same 19U.

"STORServer's adoption of the T120 library for the S20000 appliance provides for affordable, compact and expandable data storage for mid-size companies."

Like all STORServer Backup Appliances, the S20000 features Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003. Ideal for mid-sized companies, the S20000 provides enterprise-class reliability and manageability in an affordable mid-range library, making it easy to protect enterprise data and address continuous data growth during a time of flat IT budgets, said Pearring.

The S20000 starts at a base price of $45,900 for an appliance with two LTO-2 tape drives, 30 library slots, 25GB of disk-to-disk backup cache, multiple gigabit Ethernet connections, and three year hardware warranty. Later this year, the library in the S20000 will offer multiple frames that can be stacked vertically in a rack to grow to a total of 360 slots and 18 drives.
