KANO INTROS 1TB X-SPAND DESKTOP TOWER STORAGE SYSTEM

Kano Technologies introduced its new plug-and-play X-SPAND desktop-storage tower system today. X-SPAND can add up to 1TB of hard disk storage to virtually any Mac or Windows PC with a FireWire 400 (1394a) or FireWire 800 (1394b) connection. Users can purchase X-SPAND with 1TB of storage capacity pre-installed in the 4-bay model or 500GB in the 2-bay model -- or with a smaller capacity that meets their current needs. Then, they can increase the storage capacity as they need it by adding standard Western Digital 3.5-inch IDE hard drives. X-SPAND'S pluggable bays require no cables and make installing the new drives quick and easy. For PC users who want to upgrade their system to FireWire 800, a PCI host adaptor is also available from Kano Technologies.

X-SPAND provides very versatile storage, and with the fast FireWire 800 connection, is ideal for storing large amounts of video, digital audio, digital images and desktop publishing files. It provides a single host connection, with an independent FireWire volume for each installed drive. Its open architecture allows users to configure their storage in whatever way they like. For example, a user might choose to create independent digital audio, digital video, digital imaging and file backup volumes. Or, they could use host RAID software to stripe data for added performance, or mirror the drives for redundancy and protection.
