ADDONICS CONVERTS SATA DEVICES TO IDE INTERFACE DRIVES

Addonics Technologies announced a SATA-IDE/ATAPI solution that converts Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives or SATA optical storage devices to standard IDE interface storage devices, external USB or Firewire interface. With this converter, any Serial ATA hard drive can also become a read only drive by using the standard IDE Write blocker.

Users simply attach the Addonics converter to the back of any SATA storage device and instantly the SATA drive can be used as a standard IDE or ATAPI device in any application that has been tested and certified for IDE storage.

The Addonics SATA-IDE/ATAPI converter, when combined with the Addonics External Drive Enclosure, can turn any SATA hard drive into an external USB or Firewire hard drive. The solution is perfect for accessing data stored on SATA hard drives on computers that do not have a SATA interface.

The converter also enables SATA hard drives to use existing IDE write blocking hardware and software solutions, which makes it an appropriate solution for forensics applications. The write-blocking feature prevents accidental and intentional destruction of data and preserves evidence for computer crime/security investigations.

The Addonics SATA-IDE/ATAPI converter is also an excellent tool for installing SATA storage in systems with only IDE connections.

The converter supports large hard drives of 137GB or larger in one partition. The mini board size (75mm x 26mm) mounts directly to the back of SATA hard drive. The solution is bootable and requires no drivers for operation. It is compatible with any operating system (Windows, DOS, Mac, Linux, UNIX) that supports IDE or ATAPI storage devices.
