SPIDER NETWORK SYSTEMS POISED TO REVOLUTIONIZE SAN MARKET

Spider Network Systems has announced a strategic collaboration with Galazar Networks to offer storage area network providers with a solution that will enable them to better utilize available bandwidth and improve their service offering.

The Black Widow 1000SX will enable SAN providers to deliver their services in a more efficient and cost-effective manner. Leveraging Spider Network's innovative advances in transforming existing SONET/SDH infrastructures into fully automated, data aware connections and Galazar's expertise in SONET/SDH devices supporting GFP, VCAT and LCAS, the BW1000SX will allow SAN providers to offer such advanced capabilities as on-demand (time-of-day) scheduling and shared aggregate bandwidth usage.

The SAN marketplace has rapidly evolved over the past several years with providers (such as EMC) offering network area storage solutions to businesses. Because of the vast amounts of data that move across these networks, high-bandwidth WAN connectivity is a necessity. Many SAN providers rely on SONET/SDH-based networks to meet this need, but desire to maximize the available bandwidth. Spider Network's Black Widow technology provides the solution by leveraging Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) over SONET/SDH channels. This allows a huge leap in the utilization of bandwidth and makes possible the offering of advanced data services over existing SONET/SDH connections.

"With the increasing demands of SAN customers, service providers can gain both a service differentiator and a cost savings with the Black Widow 1000SX," said Spider Network Systems Executive Officer William Lukas. "By simply deploying this device they can offer more service features and host more customers all while taking better advantage of their existing infrastructure."
