EXABYTE LAUNCHES MAGNUM 6X60 LTO TAPE LIBRARY
Exabyte Corp announced a major new product release in its LTO Automation Line:
The Exabyte Magnum 6x60 LTO tape library that offers a unique new kind of
scalability for LTO users.
Redefining Scalability for LTO Automation:
- The new 20u Magnum 6x60 tape library includes six drives and 60 slots,
providing up to 24TB of capacity and data transfer speeds up to 1.5TB per
hour, at a low price of only $16,999.
- The most important feature of the library is its unique scalability,
which
allows customers to instantly scale to eight drives and 143 slots with a
simple firmware upgrade. When fully scaled, the library offers a massive 57TB
of capacity.
- This allows LTO customers to step up to enterprise class LTO automation
at
a low initial cost, and then expand to a much larger library when necessary
without the cost and hassle of getting entirely new hardware.
Powerful Enterprise-Class Features And Benefits
In addition to its unique scalability, the Magnum 6x60:
- Offers powerful, hands-free remote management capabilities, a standard
five
-slot EE port, laser bar code scanner and other enterprise-class
features.
- Utilizes LTO-1 or LTO-2, or a combination of both, with SCSI or Fiber
Channel interfaces using Magnum's unique 4-way partitioning feature, which
allows users to create up to four separate virtual libraries for SCSI drive
interfaces, and eight-way partitioning to create up to eight separate virtual
libraries.
- Field replaceable drives that allow for easy upgrades to next
generation
drive technology.
- Field installable interface cards and drives enable users to mix
multiple
interfaces (SCSI and Fibre Channel) simultaneously for more flexible
connectivity options.
- The speed, throughput and engineering elegance of a native Fibre
Channel
interface, which allows for greater throughput and eliminates the need for
costly routers, making it ideal for SAN applications
