EXANET INTRODUCES Exastore 2.0 WITH EXPANDED FEATURE SET

Exanet Inc, the developer of ExaStore, the world's first automated scalable storage access cluster system, introduced ExaStore 2.0, enhancing its already popular and successful ExaStore system with an enriched suite of features.

ExaStore was introduced by Exanet more than a year ago and is installed and operational at numerous customers worldwide, running mission critical production workload.

ExaStore uses standard NAS protocols and provides easy file sharing for all applications across virtually every system platform, including Apple, Windows, UNIX and Linux. ExaStore software, deployed on industry-standard, off-the-shelf hardware, offers a wide range of unique features including complete scalability with enhanced performance and automatic management.

ExaStore 2.0, with its expanded feature set, substantially improves access to data:

  • ExaStore significantly enhances performance due to optimization and streamlining of data management.

  • ExaStore is the first and only fully distributed, highly available and truly scalable storage solution supporting both MacOS9 and MacOSX at native performance speeds.

  • ExaStore's user access management is simplified with virtually all industry standard authentication mechanisms, including NIS+, NT Domain Controller scheme, Active Directory and, in addition, internal standalone authentication mechanisms.

  • ExaStore's access security and manageability is improved with full support of the Windows platform's access control lists (ACLs).

  • ExaStore's safe resource and file sharing access is provided using a unique distributed locking mechanism (DLM).

  • ExaStore's system management is enhanced with an administrator-managed quota system, which allows storage space management, tracking and enforcement of capacity usage policies across all protocols, including NFS (Unix), CIFS (Windows) and AFP (Apple).

  • ExaStore's international access is enhanced by its simultaneous support of multiple languages, including various Asian double character sets.

Giora Yaron, CEO and chairman of Exanet, stated, "The expanded feature set introduced today will open new markets for ExaStore and therefore significantly expand our market reach. These new markets will now be able to enjoy the high-end ExaStore feature set at an affordable price point, as compared to the offerings of our competitors."

Yaron continued, "The total cost of ownership of data storage systems has always been an issue throughout all industries. The ExaStore system, based on a 'no single point of failure' architecture running on industry-standard off-the-shelf hardware, has solved all those problems while improving productivity and reducing costs."

ExaStore 2.0 builds upon the standard features of ExaStore, which include:

  • High availability with no single point of failure.
  • Single distributed file system image with single global name space.
  • Support of Apple File Protocol, NFS, and CIFS.
  • High-performance architecture.
  • Easy capacity and performance scalability.
  • Dynamic, application-tuned performance.
  • Automated resource utilization tools.
  • Low-cost, centralized management.
  • Uses industry-standard, off-the-shelf hardware.

ExaStore is based on Exanet's unique patent pending technology. Exanet has more than 20 patents pending and has invested hundreds of engineering man-years developing ExaStore.

ExaStore has been successfully installed in a wide range of configurations and storage sizes in companies around the world. With ExaStore, Exanet's customers insure their clients that their mission-critical production work will always be secure and available to meet their critical deadline schedules. Our customers' clients include, The New York Times, Newsweek magazine, McGraw-Hill magazines and Saatchi & Saatchi, to name a few.
