PROMISE SATA RAID AVAILABLE ON HP PERSONAL WORKSTATIONS

Promise Technology Inc, an originator and leader of ATA RAID data protection and storage solutions, announced that its FastTrak S150 TX4 Serial ATA (SATA) RAID 0/1/10 controller is now available as an option for the HP Workstation xw4100, xw6000 and xw8000. With the addition of the FastTrak S150 TX4 RAID controller option workstation users can now take advantage of a RAID solution for improved performance or data protection, an increasingly popular accessory for video editing, gaming, 2-D animation, CAD and office environments.

The combination of the Promise SATA RAID controller card and up to four SATA disk drives running on an Intel Pentium4/Xeon based HP workstation helps enable users to have access to cost-effective RAID solutions. Users can choose RAID 0 for increased performance and storage capacity for large graphics and rich media files such as videos, photos, MP3 and games; RAID 1 for reliable data protection against a single drive failure, or RAID 10 for increased performance and data protection.

"Promise's popular RAID controllers provide customers enhanced performance and methods of protecting users valuable data," said Sam Sirisena, vice president of sales and marketing worldwide at Promise Technology Inc. "We are confident that Promise's Serial ATA RAID solution will complement HP's line of Pentium 4/Xeon based workstations."

"HP strives to provide its customers with the best possible solutions and applications in the marketplace," said Jim Zafarana, worldwide marketing manager of Workstation Global Business Unit at HP. "The inclusion of a Serial ATA RAID upgrade option offers HP workstation users an advanced storage solution that could be ideal for customers' performance applications."

HP workstations with the new FastTrak S150 TX4 Serial ATA (SATA) RAID 0/1/10 controller are available now at www.hp.com/works tations/ia32/index.html.
