Features - Storage Innovations:FilesAnywhere ANNOUNCES MONITORING FOR WEB-BASED STORAGEOnline file storage provider FilesAnywhere.com announced a new set of features today that will allow any user to track how files are being accessed from shared folders. File History Tracking is a feature now available to all subscribers of the FilesAnywhere service, including free users. Anyone sharing files using FilesAnywhere can use the new tracking feature to record the name, location, time of day and method of access, whenever a shared file is accessed or modified. FilesAnywhere displays the File History log online, which users analyze in real-time, export as a Microsoft Excel file, or receive via e-mail. Optionally, each file change can trigger a notification email to a designated recipient list. File History Tracking provides an audit trail for file usage, tracking statistics for shared users or individual use. This has specific benefits to business users or health professionals concerned with shared access to confidential documents. HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability And Accountability Act Of 1996) includes provisions for journaling electronic document access. With the new File History feature, FilesAnywhere now provides this capability to those who need to comply with HIPPA. "Our business users - healthcare providers in particular - have been clamoring for a way to track and view a log of all file downloads as well as changes being made to shared documents," notes Srini Achuthan, director of information security at FilesAnywhere.com. "Version Control provides version tracking and rollback. However, users often want to track file activity without turning on Version Control. File History allows quick, easy change tracking and reporting. Anyone can now activate this feature, with immediate benefits." FilesAnywhere is now offering more Web-based document management features than any other online service provider, and at all plan levels. The Dallas-based company recently added drive mapping, FTP-linking, "FileView" folders to link files together, and a host of version control and file sharing features. |
