ARCO LAUNCHES DISK TO DISK BACK UP FOR DESKTOP

Arco Data Protection Solutions (DPS), a leader in developing and manufacturing computer data protection products, has announced the launch of EzBackUp, and its new Zolutions backup Software for disk to disk (D2D) data backup. Using patented and patent pending technology, EzBackUp brings unsurpassed reliability and virtually unlimited capacity to any desktop computer, as well as small business servers.

So how does this solution actually work?

The first time EzBackup is installed on a computer, the user is prompted to make a mirror backup of everything on the hard drive, including the operating system, applications, and data. There is no limit to the size drive that EzBackup can mirror, and the primary and destination drives do not have to be the same size or from the same manufacturer. Thanks to EzBackup's lightning speed, even the largest hard drive can be completely mirrored in minutes.

As stated in StoneFly Network January 2004 white paper (Achieving High Availability & Rapid Disaster Recovery in a Microsoft Exchange IP SAN) "disk to disk backup provides a high level of data protection and the fastest recovery."

Using a DPS' Zolutions backup software available exclusively from DPS, future backups can include any combination of selected files, modified files, all files, or a complete mirror image. What's more, these backups can be initiated manually, or occur automatically via a flexible pre-programmed schedule set up by the user. The mirror backups created by EzBackup are completely bootable and portable, providing a simple, effective disaster recovery solution. If a hard drive or computer system fails, simply remove the drawer containing the good drive, insert it into the primary drive slot in your computer, and the system is up and running.

EzBackup is a hardware-based D2D solution, meaning that there is no impact on system performance. Compare this to software-based systems which use the host processor and can slow overall performance considerably. And because of EzBackup's patented technology, the device requires no drivers, IRQs or tray resources, and is OS independent. This makes EzBackup the most reliable and flexible D2D backup solution available anywhere.

As an extra measure of safety, DPS has also incorporated their exclusive, new Hidden Drive Technology (HDT) into the EzBackup solution. HDT hides the backup drive from the operating system, protecting the drive from human error or virus infection.
