NEW ADAPTEC SYSTEMS DELIVER EASY-TO-USE NETWORK STORAGE

Adaptec Inc, a global leader in storage solutions, introduced two storage systems that give organizations a cost-effective way to deploy network storage for e-mail, database, disaster recovery, consolidation backup and other storage applications.

The increasing digitization of data by organizations of all sizes and regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley that mandate long-term records retention are spawning massive amounts of reference data -- highly valuable but infrequently accessed information such as email, check images, and streaming video and audio -- driving demand for network storage that is as simple to install and use as direct-attached storage. At the same time, businesses are demanding affordable alternatives to traditional networked storage to meet their growing capacity, data protection and performance requirements for a broad range of storage applications.

The new Adaptec iSA1500 Storage Array leverages standard IP networks, existing network management skill sets and low-cost Serial ATA storage to provide organizations with networked reference-data storage that is easy and cost-effective to install and manage. The iSCSI-to-Serial ATA RAID subsystem combines high levels of data protection and capacity allocation flexibility with other advanced storage area network (SAN) capabilities and an easy-to-use management tool to reduce total cost of ownership. The Adaptec iSA1500 also provides high-capacity storage for direct-attached environments and an easy migration path to network storage.
