Promise SATA RAID Chosen For AMD64 Processor Solutions

Promise Technology Inc, an originator and industry leader in ATA RAID data protection and storage solutions, announced a design win with ASUSTeK Computer Inc, a leading manufacturer of high quality motherboards, notebooks, VGA cards, servers, broadband modems and optical storage devices.

Promise's PDC20378 ASIC, a two-port SATA and one-channel PATA RAID 0/1/0+1 controller, has been selected for integration into ASUS motherboards that support AMD64 processors. The PDC20378 ASIC is available on the ASUS SK8N, the ASUS SK8V and K8V Deluxe motherboards.

The ASUS SK8N motherboard is targeted for servers and high-end workstations used in applications such as cinema graphics processing. The motherboard features a 940-pin socket that supports the AMD Opteron 100 or 200 series processor or the AMD Athlon 64 FX processor.

The ASUS SK8V motherboard is designed for high-end workstations and individual users that need maximum performance. The motherboard features a 940-pin socket that supports the AMD Opteron 100 series processor or the AMD Athlon 64 FX processor. The motherboard also supports advanced features such as an integrated Wi-Fi slot for wireless networking support and onboard Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking.

The K8V Deluxe motherboard offers an ideal entry-point for 64-bit computing for workstations and high-end desktops. The motherboard features a 754-pin socket that supports the AMD Athlon 64 processor.

Promise's PCD20378 ASIC provides embedded system builders with a costeffective, high performance Serial ATA RAID-based storage solution. The PCD20378 ASIC offers two Serial ATA RAID ports and one Parallel ATA channel for support of up to four hard drives. The PCD20378 ASIC supports for RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 0+1, simplified BIOS integration, and AMD64 processor driver support, making it an ideal solution for motherboard vendors that are looking to take advantage of the expanding market for 64-bit computing products.
