NEW ADDONICS HARD DRIVE KITS TRANSFORM SATA DRIVES

Addonics Technologies announced a pair of Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive kits, which can transform any SATA drive into a hot-swappable, removable or external drive solution. The new Combo Hard Drive II for Serial ATA is Addonics' rugged version of the kit while the Combo Hard Drive has been designed for more conventional environments.

Both the drive enclosure and the drive bay on the Combo Hard Drive II for SATA (Model AECHDSA35-R) are constructed out of aluminum for use in harsh and rough handling environments. The tough aluminum enclosure provides hard drive protection and efficient heat dissipation for the high spin rate of SATA hard drives. The Combo Hard Drive (Model AECHDSA35), constructed in conventional plastic material, has an innovative fan system located at the bottom of the drive cradle to provide efficient cooling and air circulation.

To build a hot-swap removable SATA hard drive system, users just need to install the Addonics drive cradle into an open 5 1/4-inch drive bay on their computer system. They can now use the drive enclosure with the installed SATA hard drive like a drive cartridge by sliding it in and out of the Addonics drive cradle, without restarting their computer.

Users can install any SATA hard drive in less than a minute. To connect the enclosure as an external SATA hard drive, all users need to do is attach the external SATA data cable and the Addonics SATA external power adapter, which are included in the kit.

The kit features point-to-point SATA connection (no cable is needed to connect the hard drive to the enclosure). The Addonics Combo Hard Drive (Model AECHDSA35) drive cradle is also equipped with a unique pass through SATA port and power connector that turns any internal SATA port inside a computer into an external SATA port. The external SATA capability enables you to connect another Combo Hard Drive to the system as an external Serial ATA hard drive, which can be paired with the internal SATA hard drive to form a RAID solution. A wide range of Addonics external SATA storage devices can also be attached to the system via this external SATA port.

The Combo Hard Drive II for Serial ATA hard drive kit includes the drive enclosure (AAHDSA35CS-R), Drive Cradle (AAHDSA35BY-R), External SATA data cable (AASAEDC3F), and 110/220V Power adapter for SATA drive (AASAPS). List price for the kit is $59.

The Combo Hard Drive for SATA hard drive kit (Model AECHDSA35) provides many of the same features as the Combo Hard Drive II kit -- external SATA, hot-swap, removable hard drive -- in a more conventional drive enclosure and cradle. List price of the Combo Hard Drive for SATA hard drive kit is $39.
