AmeriVault IMPROVES BACKUP, RECOVERY SPEED BY 40 PERCENT

AmeriVault Corp, a pioneer of online server backup and disaster recovery for business, announced that it has upgraded its storage infrastructure in its Waltham, Mass., Mass Storage Vault, with the deployment of EMC CLARiiON CX storage solutions. This upgrade has improved the speed of AmeriVault's online backup and recovery offering by more than forty percent, providing customers with faster server backups and more efficient data restores. AmeriVault's new CLARiiON CX-based infrastructure replaces the company's previous storage solution provider. The Mass Storage Vault is now exclusively composed of EMC networked storage.

AmeriVault's storage deployment consists of over 32 terabytes of CLARiiON CX600 and CX400 networked storage systems and software. AmeriVault's CLARiiON systems utilize both Fibre Channel and ATA drive technology -- providing flexibility for the company to match customer service level requirements with the storage environment. The company is also using EMC SnapView software in conjunction with AmeriVault's backup offering for non-disruptive recovery operations, and EMC MirrorView to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.

Utilizing industry-leading software, AmeriVault's service recognizes and captures changes to files, encrypts the data for enhanced security and compresses it to minimize transmission time. The encrypted data is then sent over the Internet or private telecommunication lines to highly secure offsite Mass Storage Vaults. Because only changed data segments are sent, even in the highly unlikely event that someone is able to break into the code, they would only find a few unintelligible bits of data, as opposed to an entire file. Company personnel can schedule automated, unattended backups according to their needs. Retrieval can be accomplished online, in real-time, from their place of business or remotely.

AmeriVault maintains two data centers: in Waltham and in Philadelphia. The company is managing both sites with EMC's VisualSRM software to manage and report on asset utilization, provide trend analysis and implement policies. The Philadelphia-based vault features EMC Symmetrix storage.
