XIRAN TO DEMONSTRATE iSCSI+ TECH. AT STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD

Xiran, a division of SimpleTech Inc, will demonstrate its iSCSI+ DPA-1200i Evaluation Kit for the first time publicly at the Storage Networking World (SNW) conference in Orlando, Fla., from Oct. 27-30. Xiran's end-to-end iSCSI+ Evaluation Kit is designed to accelerate server, storage and networking platforms. Based on its patented, high-performance DirectPath Engine (DPE), Xiran offers flexible, programmable and compatible iSCSI based accelerator adaptors. The flexible nature of iSCSI+ IP Storage technology supports initiator, target and bridge functions plus additional protocols and software applications.

"Xiran's DirectPath accelerators featuring iSCSI+ provide a high- performance iSCSI solution for end-to-end iSCSI support while enabling customization of standard protocols such as full TCP/IP, HTTP offload, as well as, custom, value-add OEM application software," said Jeanclaude Toma, vice president of marketing and business development for Xiran. "By leveraging our DirectPath architecture, we allow concurrent support of iSCSI initiator and target functionality from the same Xiran IP Storage accelerator."

Value-added flexibility from concurrent protocol processing allows OEMs to add value to their Xiran DirectPath-enabled iSCSI+ systems. Additionally, Xiran's programmable iSCSI+ architecture allows for quick upgrades to new iSCSI and other standard protocols.

DirectPath accelerators for IP Storage solutions are available to server, storage and networking equipment OEMs, as well as to Xiran's channel partners targeting storage and server VARs, system integrators, distributors and other resellers. Xiran's iSCSI+ accelerators are designed to improve overall system performance and increase the number of users served while lowering the total cost of ownership in the data center. Xiran further enhances the benefits of iSCSI by providing a robust and flexible, yet cost effective, networked storage solution.

Xiran's iSCSI+ Evaluation Kit, priced at $1,500, includes the DPA-1200i DirectPath accelerator, CD-ROM and documentation for Windows- and Linux-based platforms. Deliveries of the iSCSI+ Evaluation Kit are scheduled to commence in November.
