    RESEARCHERS BOOST DATA STORAGE WITH COMMON MATERIALS

    Boston College researchers have found a way to store about 19 times more data on a disk than a common DVD can hold, using optical media made with common products, the December issue of Nature Materials reports.

    SGI EXPANDS CAPABILITY OF SAN FILESYSTEM
    SGI has announced its popular shared filesystem for storage area networks, CXFS 2.2, can manage up to 32 different client machines within one SAN. CXFS previously handled up to 16 client machines. This significant improvement increases the scalability of SGI storage solutions and ultimately increases productivity for users of SAN environments by eliminating file duplication and the time it takes to move large files over the network.

    DataDirect TO SHOW FASTEST FC-2 STORAGE CONTROLLER AT SC2002
    DataDirect Networks will be demonstrating the world's fastest storage controller at SC2002/Baltimore from November 18 to 21. DataDirect's S2A8000 Silicon Storage Appliance is a new storage controller device that has been created to allow the deployment of extremely high-performance, easy-to-manage, and highly scalable 24/7/365 storage networking foundations.
