DSstar spoke with Tho Nguyen, Director of Data Warehousing Strategy for SAS.

Two University of Cambridge computer security researchers described an
ingenious and inexpensive attack that employs a $30 camera flashgun and a
microscope to extract secret information contained in widely used smart
cards.

G4 Analytics Inc, a Bethesda, Md.-based software developer of business
intelligence applications, introduced its G4 Analytics for Consumer Products
application which runs on the Microsoft SQL Server Accelerator for Business
Intelligence platform.
NewEnergy ADDS TRADING AND RISK MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES
NewEnergy Associates, LLC announced the addition of trading and risk
management capabilities to its existing line of premier solutions for the
energy industry.
SageMetrics RAISES $6 MILLION IN SERIES B ROUND
SageMetrics Corporation, a business intelligence outsource provider for
online and offline data mining, integration, and analysis, announced that it
closed a $6 million Series B Round of funding led by venture capital firm
Ascend Venture Group, LLC ('Ascend').
SUN TARGETS $1 BILLION MAINFRAME MARKET OPPORTUNITY
Building on its successful replacement program for IBM's abandoned NUMA-Q
users, Sun Microsystems Inc's Project 'Blue Away' is now targeting IBM's
midrange capacity mainframe customers. The mid-market mainframe represents a
potential $1 billion opportunity that Sun intends to lead with its Sun Fire
Midframe server family.
SUN'S ED ZANDER JOINS NETEZZA BOARD
In Netezza, Zander, who announced three weeks ago that he was resigning
after 15 years with Sun, will be having a say in a business whose flagship
platform makes large, tera-scale queries in a fraction of the time of
comparable applications.
