North Jersey Media Group Selects Sybase CRM Solution

Sybase Inc announced that North Jersey Media Group, publisher of 21 daily and weekly newspapers, has purchased a complete analytical CRM solution from Sybase. North Jersey Media Group selected Industry Warehouse Studio (IWS) for Media to strengthen their relationships with their business partners, advertisers and subscribers.

Sybase designed the media-CRM solution for multi-media organizations as the industry continues to grow and evolve. Many newspapers are becoming critical components of larger organizations that include cable, entertainment, Internet, radio and specialty publications. Having a 360 degree view of the customer is critical to the success of this multi-billion dollar industry.

North Jersey Media will use the Sybase solution to build an enterprise data warehouse that will include CRM and business-performance analytics such as demographic and lifestyle profiling, direct mail, telemarketing, cost revenue analysis, customer care, retention, sales revenue analysis and clickstream analysis.

Ed Efchak, vice president of marketing at North Jersey Media Group, said "We chose Sybase because of their open systems, and their ability to build an enterprise-wide analytic solution for our business in less time than it would take to implement a single point solution. Because of their partnerships with best-of-breed ETL and data-visualization tools, we have one point of contact, and Sybase takes responsibility for the success of the project."

Many companies purchase multiple point-products for advertising, circulation or clickstream intelligence. North Jersey Media Group saw strong value in purchasing IWS for Media. "By going with the Sybase Industry Warehouse Studios, we significantly cut implementation costs," Efchak said. "And because Sybase puts all the pieces together, we can train our people on a single solution that provides intelligence throughout the enterprise."

With a myriad of business intelligence related products on the market today, finding the right fit is critical. "It was important to us that we work with a vendor that understood the newspaper/media industry. We spoke to industry analysts and several media references before making the decision to work with Sybase. Based on our personal experience here at North Jersey Media Group, we believe that we've made the right choice in selecting the Sybase solution," Efchak said.

Eric Miles, general manager and senior vice president of the Business Intelligence Division, said, "We recognize the need for a broad, mediaindustry CRM solution that includes data warehouse models that are specific to the needs of newspapers, cable television and radio. Given the competitive nature of the media industry, comprehensive knowledge -- about customers, advertisers and prospects is critical to increasing subscribers. IWS for Media provides a 360 degree view of the customer which translates to competitive advantage."
