DATA EVERYWHERE

Data are everywhere and as our daily activities continue to generate data trails we ensure that high performing companies associated with storage, management, analysis and use of data should show sustained growth into the future. Continued growth is driven in part by continued research and development -- more powerful algorithms, faster systems, and innovative approaches to handling data. In this column, I comment on the various sources of data that are available for research and development purposes and the characteristics of these data sources.
